1927 ~ 2017Karl Nahum Goodman, Jr., passed away on February 8, 2017, at the age of 89, in Orem, Utah. Karl was born on November 13, 1927 in Tucson, Arizona, to Emma Leona Tanner and Karl Nahum Goodman. After graduating from South High School in Salt Lake City, Karl enlisted in the
army at the age of 17, where he served for two years. In 1947 Karl was called to serve in the Northern States Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Karl married Wilma Mendenhall in the St. George Utah Temple on June 4, 1952. They were blessed with nine children. Karl had many interests and talents. He was a general contractor and built many beautiful homes, as well as having a career in the education system teaching school. Karl enjoyed writing and was the author of two published novels.Karl was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many positions including Bishop of the Mountain View First Ward in Payson, Utah. He also served three missions with his wife, Wilma. They served in the Mexico, Mexico City North Mission, in the Costa Rica, San Jose Mission, and also as Church Educational System missionaries in the Tonga, Nuku'alofa Mission. Karl's teachings and example leave a legacy of testimony, dedication, and hard work. Karl is survived by his wife Wilma of 64 years, and children: Karl (Katherine) Goodman, Kurt (Colleen) Goodman, Robin (Ken) Erickson, Cindy (Clint) Jones, Mark (Michelle) Goodman, Gaylynn Parker, Dan Goodman, Adam (Kanani) Goodman, 41 grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Shirley Coleman.Karl was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings: Frances, Nedra, J.B., and Sherril; daughter, Catherine Elsa Goodman; son-in-law, Nathan Parker; and daughter-in-law, Jeanmarie Brown Goodman. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2017 in the Cherry Hill 6th Ward Chapel, 1650 South 200 East, Orem Utah 84058. The viewing will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the Relief Society Room.
