Karl E. HavensFREMONT: Karl E. Havens, 80, of Fremont, OH, passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Valley View Health Campus. He was born on December 5, 1936 in Fremont, the son of Willis B. and Gertrude (Young) Havens. He was a 1954 graduate of Green Springs High School.Karl married Janet Kahl on January 21, 1961 and she preceded him in death on December 4, 1984. He married Betty (Haggerty) Minnich on November 1, 1986 at Old Fort United Methodist Church and she survives.Karl was a lifelong farmer and dairy farmer. He owned and operated Brookview Farms. Karl was a past member of Old Fort Lions Club. He was a past President of the Holstein Association and was named Sandusky County Farmer of the Year in 1979. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church.Karl is survived by his wife, Betty Havens, Fremont, OH; children, Elizabeth (Larry) Lacumsky, Oak Harbor, OH, Willis E. Havens, Charlotte, NC, Christine (Vjekoslav) Dedic, Willowick, OH; step sons, Steven (Alison) Minnich and Kevin (Monica Heath) Minnich both of Fremont, OH; brother, Philip Havens, Fremont, OH; step brother, Richard Hessick, Tiffin, OH; step sister, Donna Jean Preston, Toledo, OH; five grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two step grandchildren and three step great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his father, Willis Havens, mother, Gertrude Havens Hessick and step father, Dewey Hessick; first wife, Janet Havens; grandson, Joshua Caster and brother, John D.
