KARLVON J. G. STRASSER1920 - 2017Karlvon J.G. Strasser, 96, passed away peacefully, on May 18, 2017. His family was lovingly by his side during his final days. He has gone on to be with his Lord and Savior and to be reunited with his dear wife, Lucy.Karl was born on July 24, 1920, in New Orleans, LA. He grew up in Jackson, MS. He moved to Pensacola, FL before the start of World War II.During the war, Karl served in the U. S. Army Engineers, in New Guinea, rising to the rank of MSgt.After serving our country, he went on to work as an architectural draftsman with Yonge, Look & Morrison Architects. He continued to work with Look & Morrison Architects until his retirement. After retirement, he returned to work for Amspacher & Amspacher and with Baskerville Donovan for several years. Karl had a hand in designing and building many public and commercial buildings around Pensacola and N.W. Florida.Karlvon was an active member of East Hill Baptist Church for more than 60 years. He met his beloved wife, Lucille Creasman, at the church soon after she had moved to Pensacola from Athens, TN. He was a faithful member of the church choir, served as a church deacon for decades and chaired many, many committees over the years. Karl sang with the Choral Society of Pensacola, for several years.Preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Lucille C. Strasser.He is survived by his three children, Michael Strasser (Angeline), Karla McClain (Ronnie) and Karen Dannheisser (Tom); grandchildren, Chase McClain (Gretchen), Laura Dannheisser Young (Joseph), Colby McClain, Leah Dannheisser Fishbein (Ben), Berengaria Adams and Cecile Strasser; great grandchildren, Chandler and Lucille.The family wants to thank Karl's loving, attentive caregivers: Keytha, Anita, Maureen, Darlene, Edie and many caring nurses and therapists.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to , University of West Florida Historic Trust or a .Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel with Rev. Pat Mobley officiating. A private interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.
