Katherine Florence Harrell, 69, of Fountaintown, Indiana went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 after a lengthy battle with a very rare cancer. Kathy was born on September 17th, 1947 in Cleveland, Ohio to Jack and Isabel (Dempsey) Stephens (deceased). On May 25th, 1983 she married Bruce W. Harrell in Elyria, Ohio is survived by her best friend and husband, Bruce, and their blended family of nine wonderful children: Deanna, Kelly, Brian, Carla, Charles, Erica, Kimberly, Allison and Joshua and twenty-four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Kathy had a bachelor's degree in business with a major in computer technology. She worked for the Richard E. Jacobs Group in Westlake, Ohio and taught computer classes at Open Door Christian School in Elyria, Ohio. Her greatest love was her family and her horses. She loved family gatherings, trail riding and horse camping. For the last five years, Kathy's love for children and families was demonstrated in her dedication and commitment to serve as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for abused and neglected children for the Shelby County, IN and Rush County, IN CASA programs where she trained CASAs and worked as the manager of the Rush County program. Friends may call Thursday, November 3, 2016 from 5-7 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held on Friday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral at 11:00 a.m. at Lakeview Baptist Church; 591 Ferndale Avenue, Vermilion. The Rev. Cliff Morris, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow at New Russia Township Cemetery, Oberlin.
