The family would also like to thank Linda Rife for the care and compassion she showed Katie and the rest of the family in Katie’s final days. She has been a Godsend to us all, and we are forever grateful that she is an honorary member of our family for life.
Katie was a kind and honorable woman, and on many Friday nights could be found playing a highly competitive game of Pinochle at her kitchen table with her sons, Joe and Jim. This was a beloved and valued tradition that they shared. She and Darryl enjoyed an adventure-filled second act of life full of vacations, casinos, and love, and they even managed to visit all 48 contiguous states together, as well, They loved to be spontaneous and impulsive together, and they loved to live life to the fullest. They did life together and it was an amazing sight to watch.
Katie enjoyed collecting tiger memorabilia, watching Purdue Basketball, visiting every casino she could find, dancing through life, and spending countless hours with friends and family. Even if you weren’t blood-related, she sure made you feel like you were. She always told of life how it was, so you never had to guess how she felt. You always knew where you stood with this strong and beautiful woman. She loved listening to her audiobooks when she was alone and relaxing in her living room watching cars go by while drinking coffee and sitting with her fur babies, Maggie and Rowdy.
The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life for Katie tentatively scheduled for September 30, 2023 from 12:00-5:00 at the Amboy Community Center in Amboy, Indiana. Final details will be confirmed as soon as possible. Anyone who wishes to pay their respects or send their regards may do so.
