Kathleen Magnant HuntOld Fort - Mrs. Kathleen Magnant Hunt, age 80, of Old Fort, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2017 at The McDowell Hospital. A native of New Bedford, Mass., she was born on April 19, 1937 to the late Ralph and Lena Magnant. Kathleen was married to the late Max Grant Hunt, her husband of 42 years, who preceded her in death on November 2, 2001. She worked at a variety of jobs early on in Swannanoa including the Kearfott Corp. and the Beacon Blanket Mill as well as Parker Hosiery in Old Fort and at the Marion and Old Fort Libraries. Her true calling though was as a homemaker for her husband and family and she was a great cook. She was an avid reader and loved watching cooking shows. Her family and friends loved her and she will be missed by all who knew her.Kathleen leaves behind two children, Lisa Hunt Hensley and husband Gary of Nebo and Michael Grant Hunt and wife Judy of Fletcher; two sisters, Carolyn Clark and husband Bob of Atlanta, GA and Sharon Snook and husband Garry of Carbondale, CO; four grandchildren, Whitney Hensley Cason and husband Blake and Carly Hensley Enarson and husband Ted, all of Raleigh, Lauren Hunt Ford and husband Drew of Fuqua-Varina, NC and Grant Redman Hunt of Richmond, VA; and two great-grandchildren, Gunnar Cason and Callaway Enarson. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, June 9, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain with Rev. Terry Roach officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the at 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605. Westmoreland Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
