Kathleen WilkinsMarch 12, 1946 - Dec. 1, 2016GRANGER - Kathleen Kathy Wilkins, 70, of Granger, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2016, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. Kathy was born on March 12, 1946, to Gerard Gerry and Adelaide Addie (Dosmann) Canfield. On April 23, 1966, she married Douglas Doug Wilkins, her best friend, who together shared over fifty years in laughter and love. They were lifelong residents of the South Bend, Granger area.Kathy is survived by her husband, Doug Wilkins, Granger, IN, daughters, Laurie A. (Randy) Main of Osceola, IN, and Brooke M. (D.C.) Curry of Franklin, TN. She had three grandchildren whom she adored, Zach Main, 19, of Osceola, IN, Jada Curry, 6, and Nelly Curry, 5, both of Franklin, TN. She also had three step-grandchildren, Michelle (Matt) Ruhnow, Randall (Dyana Gray) Main, Jr., and Ryan (Melissa McKeever) Main. In addition, Kathy leaves behind her brothers and sisters, Dave (Marge) Canfield, Sue (Donn) Odle, Ted (Judy) Canfield, Bob (Tonda) Canfield, Brian (Deb) Canfield, and Beth (Scott) Robinett, all of whom she dearly loved, as well as: aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many, many close friends. Kathy was a stay-at-home mom and then began her career outside the home, where most will remeber her as The Voice of Memorial Hospital. She worked 26 years as Switchboard and Information/Receptionist and after retiring, was recruited by Dr. Roger Pecina, AFDENT Dental, as his receptionist, because he liked the way she took care of people. She happliy gave seven years of service there, before retiring once again. Kathy always put herself on the back burner, making certain her family was happy and well taken care of. She made sure to share with all she could, the great sense of pride she had for her children and grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her loving unselfishness, her contagious laughter and smile! An Irish Blessing... Kathy's celebration of life will be held at McGann Hay Funeral Home, 13260 State Road 23, Granger, IN 46530. Visitation will begin at 4:00 pm with service to follow at 5:00 pm.
