A funeral service for Mrs. Kathlyn Tuttle, 87, of Deadwood, was held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mervin Scott officiating. Interment followed in Deadwood Cemetery. The family received friends from 6-7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Tuttle passed away on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015, at her home in Deadwood.
Kathlyn LaGrone Tuttle was born on Jan. 1, 1928, in Rosebud, TX, to the late Grady H. and Leila Belle Stone LaGrone. She graduated from CarthageHigh School with the class of 1943. She earned a bachelor and master's degree from StephenF.AustinStateUniversity. Mrs. Tuttle married Charles E. Tuttle on Nov. 20, 1949, at FirstUnitedMethodistChurch in Carthage and he preceded her in death on Apr. 12, 2000. She worked for Humble I.S.D. as a middle school teacher until her retirement. Mrs. Tuttle moved back to Deadwood in 1984, from Humble and was a member of the DeadwoodUnitedMethodistChurch. She enjoyed reading, watching sports, and her beloved Deadwood, the community where she was raised and loved to live. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Tuttle was also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Melinda Tuttle.
Survivors include her son, Dr. Charles L. Tuttle of Mesquite; her daughter, Kathy Nicks and husband Bill of Longview; and two granddaughters, Nicole and Melissa Tuttle of Mesquite.
Honorary pallbearers were James Hugh Browning, Randy LaGrone, Brad LaGrone, Clay LaGrone, T.C. Stone, Kevin Jones, Jeff Jones, Monty Page, and Scott Page.
