Kathryn “Kathy” Wilson Kelley passed on Tuesday, 9 January 2024 at the age of eighty-six.
Kathy was predeceased by her parents, Gaye Hess Wilson and Clyde Alvin Wilson, Sr., as well as her husband, James “Jimmy” Turner Kelley.
Kathy is survived by her daughter, Lisa Kelley von Gehren; son-in-law, Erich von Gehren; grandsons, Nicholas and Reinhardt von Gehren, all of London, England; and brother, Clyde Alvin Wilson, Jr. of Virginia.
Kathy was born 17 March 1937 in Culpeper, VA. During her eighth grade study hall class at Culpeper High School she met a senior and love of her life, Jimmy Kelley. They married 15 March 1957 at Culpeper Baptist Church and enjoyed fifty-two years of marriage until Jimmy passed in 2009. After high school, Kathy was employed by the Federal Government. When Kathy, Jimmy, and Lisa moved to Williamsburg, Virginia, she was employed by an insurance office and later as a secretary for the Williamsburg school district. Kathy was an avid bowler and thoroughly enjoyed babysitting her grandsons. Upon moving back to Culpeper in 2017, Kathy enjoyed activities within Culpeper Baptist Church and several life-long friends, as well as her “cousins” lunches.
Kathy’s funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, 12 January 2024 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel in Culpeper, VA, with Hans Murdoch officiating. The family will receive guests one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Fairview Cemetery.
