Kathryn Angela RobinsonMy oh my, what a life! Kathryn (Kay) Robinson, born on October 16, 1915 in Fargo, North Dakota to Daniel Fidelis O'Neill and Clare Lavinia Cumming. Kay died on the 101st anniversary of her baptism on Oct. 21, 2016.Kay attended St. Mary's school in Fargo. In her teens the family of nine moved to Seattle, where Kay graduated from Holy Names Academy. She attended business school, and was working as a bookkeeper in Seattle when she met Carl Robinson at a Chancellor Club dance. They were married in 1939 and raised a family of six glorious children. Kay was a stay at home mom until the last of the kids were in high school, then used her business skills to manage the Absentee Ballots for King County Election Department. Kay lived in the family home in Wallingford for 77 years; it was the central gathering place for family holidays, Super Bowl games or a cup of tea and a game of cards. Just weeks before she died, she was beating us at gin rummy.Kay attributed her long life to a love of sports. She ice skated, played volleyball, golfed, and became an avid fan of the Mariners, Sounders, Seahawks, and Gonzaga basketball. She and Carl were fixtures at all of their children's and grandchildren's games and activities. Blessed Sacrament church played a prominent role in the Robinson family's lives. They were parishioners for over 75 years, and the community became an extension of the family. The Robinsons also had a proud legacy of three generations of Seattle Preparatory and Seattle University graduates.Perhaps Kay's greatest gifts were her strong faith and devotion to her family. Every night she recited the rosary and prayed for each family member by name. Kay was humble, accepting, and generous. She welcomed visitors, family, and friends into her home to share a meal or play a game of cards. A true matriarch, many people loved her as a second mom or grandma. Kay is survived by her children, Joseph, Marikay Robinson Bates (Steve), Tom (Jeanie), Ed (Jane), Fred (Riza) and Annie Robinson Harkness (Chad); 16 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; her sister, Rosemary Jesmer; and a large extended family. She was preceded in death in 2000 by Carl R.
