Kathryn L. FudgeOct. 23, 1952Aug 31, 2017Kathryn Louise Fudge, 64, of Sparks, Nevada, passed away on August 31, 2017, after battling a rare form of cancer.Kathryn was born on October 23, 1952, in Roseburg, Oregon to Wendell and Louise Austin. The family moved to Springfield, Oregon while Kathryn was still young. Kathryn attended Thurston High School (Class of 1970) and Lane Community College. She met her future husband, Kent, while in college and they married August 7, 1976.Kathryn, Kent, and their youngest daughter, Jennifer, moved to Sparks in 1999. Kathryn began working at the America West Airlines Reno Reservation Center in October 1999. She spent much of her career in the administrative sector of the center as it transitioned from America West to US Airways, and most recently, to American Airlines. Kathryn and Kent enjoyed traveling the world and especially enjoyed time spent in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.Kathryn is survived by Kent; children Andrew (Tiffany) of Arlington, Texas, Sarah of Eugene, Oregon, and Jennifer of Portland, Oregon; grandchildren Brooklyn and Maxwell; and beloved pets Sassy and Sylvester. Other survivors include her mother, Louise; brothers Brad (Roberta) Austin and Bob (Sheryl) Austin; sisters-in-law Denine Austin and Deanna (Peter) Hoppenbrouwers; six nephews and three nieces. Kathryn was preceded in death by her father, Wendell, brother, Steve, and in-laws Harry and Roselie Fudge.Kathryn was an avid blood donor and grew her hair out several times so it could be cut and donated to wig programs for children. Kathryn enjoyed reading and watching sports and rarely met a crossword puzzle she couldn't complete.Kathryn was genuine, kind, and selfless and will be missed by those who knew and loved her.A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, September 23, 2017, at 11:00a.m. at Walton's Funeral Home Sierra Chapel, 875 W. Second Street in Reno, Nevada.
