Kay MetzenerDecember 24, 1931 - January 25, 2014Kay W. Metzener 82, died at the home of his daughter Danelle Birch in Layton, Utah, having valiantly fought cancer for 13 years. He resided in Clinton, Utah. He was born on December 24, 1931 in Rexburg, Idaho, to Werner and Cerilda Metzener. He married Leona Denkers in 1953 in Pocatello, Idaho. She died in 2001. Kay served in the United States Air Force. He retired from Mountain Bell and resided in Aurora, CO for over 30 years.Kay is survived by three children: David (Monette), Aurora CO; Tamara Emmons (Paul), TN; Danelle Birch (Peter), Layton UT; and 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Dana Bennett (Paul) in 1999. He is also survived by a brother Marvin (Daryl), MO, and his sister Marlene Richardson (Jeffry), CA.Kay loved learning and was recently enrolled in a Spanish language class. He also loved to fish and golf. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. His favorite callings were as a primary teacher and as an Ogden Temple Ordinance worker. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at 12:00 noon at the Tri Oaks Ward Chapel, 2375 S 3225 N, Layton, UT.
