Kayla Brungardt Kayla Kathleen was born on March 20, 1985 in Olympia, Washington. With family by her side, she passed away on January 19, 2017, in Seattle, Washington, after being hospitalized for meningitis. Raised in Tumwater, Kayla graduated from Black Hills High School in 2003. She then went on to receive her degree from the prestigious School of Apparel Design and Development at Seattle Central Community College. This led to design oversight and quality control positions at Utilikilts and Kische. Seeking a new challenge, Kayla enrolled in the University of Washington. In 2014, she graduated, near the top of her class, with a B.A. in Communications. She then went on to work for Wright and Runstad as a Property Administrator. She was dedicated to her work and especially enjoyed coordinating community outreach via charitable events. Kayla was a vibrant, strikingly beautiful, and healthy young woman. She loved hot yoga and long walks with her beloved poodles, Teddy and Jesse. Selfless and empathic, she would do whatever necessary to ensure the happiness of her family, friends, and poodles. Her smile and infectious laughter could brighten the darkest day and she will be missed by all who knew her. Kayla is survived by her mother and father, Kathleen and Robert Brungardt; her elder sister, Johanna Brungardt; her younger brother, Leland Brungardt; and her partner of 11 years, Kristofer Kornegay. A celebration of her life and spirit will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, February 25, 2017 at South Sound Manor, 455 North St. SE, Tumwater.
