Kazuko OkamotoVentura, CAKazuko Okamoto, 89, of Ventura passed away peacefully on January 5, 2017 with her family by her side. Kazuko Masumoto was born on April 21, 1927 in Ono, Japan to Kazuto and Satoyo Masumoto. She was the second of 8 children. After high school, Kazuko worked as a seamstress. In 1962, Kazuko married James Okamoto of Oxnard. After an extended honeymoon in Japan, the couple settled in Oxnard to begin their lives together. In 1964, Kazuko gave birth to their only child, Alice. Kazuko spent her working years growing flowers on the family ranch.Kazuko was a quiet, generous, and selfless woman. She was a kind soul who lived to please others. She was born with the kindest heart ever created and made a positive impact on anyone who came in contact with her. In her later years, Kazuko was known to many simply as "Bachan." She enjoyed arts and crafts such as sewing and knitting, playing cards, gardening, and she was an excellent cook of Japanese cuisine. More than anything, Kazuko loved to give to others and she derived joy from seeing the happiness of other people.Kazuko is survived by her daughter, Alice (son-in-law Jerry); granddaughters, Sam and Mel; brothers Sachio and Nobuhide; and sisters Mutsuko, Keiko, and Michiko; and countless other relatives and friends. Kazuko was preceded in death by her husband James, and sisters, Hanako and Hideko.The family would like to thank the staff at St. John's hospital in Oxnard, in the ICU, emergency and 2 north units. would also like to thank Dr. Kubo, Dr. Liu, Dr. Wang and the staff at Fresenius Dialysis Facility for all there efforts in supporting her medical care. A service celebrating Kazuko's life will be held at 2:00 on Friday, January 13 at the Oxnard Buddhist Temple, 250 S. H Street, Oxnard, CA 93030. Arrangements are under the direction of the Charles Carroll Funeral Home in Ventura.
