Keisha Julie Johnson, age 45, of The Bronx, NY, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2017. She was born to the late Jonathan Gonzales and Cindy Stewart on February 23, 1954.
Keisha attended Saint Raymond Elementary School and Bronx Community High School before attending the University of Florida, where she was a member of Alpha Gamma Gamma Sorority. She was an active member in the community and served on the Board of Health in Florida for 5 years, and served on the fundraising committee for the Cancer Society for many years. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church.
Family and friends were Keisha’s passion and delight. She grew up spending summers and vacations with her brother, Mark, and her two cousins, Jane and Mary. She loved to host and entertain and frequently had garden parties at her house. For several years Keisha would visit Vancouver, BC, getting away from the hot Florida summers. She enjoyed her time in Vancouver and made many lifelong friends there.
Keisha was a member of the Scottsdale Golf Club, the Capilano Golf Club in Vancouver, as well as the Royal Yacht Club in Vancouver. She loved to golf and learned to sail during her summers there. She was very active and loved being outdoors.
Keisha is survived by her brother, Mark Gonzales, and her two cousins who were like sisters to her, Angie (Mike) Gomez and Mary (John) Walters. She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends.
Keisha requested a private burial and funeral. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her last illness. Donations may be made to the University of Florida Medical Center Palliative Care Facility.
