Keith Maurer, 80, passed away at his home in Logan on Monday, Aug. 5, 2013. Keith was born on Nov. 24, 1932, along with twin brother, Kenneth, to Arthur L. and Louise Mary Bodrero. Keith was raised in Nibley and graduated from South Cache High School. Keith married Barbara Jones on March 12, 1955; they had three children, Kristie Kae, Lori Lou and Randall Keith. Keith and Barbara divorced and Keith took an early retirement from Hill Air Force Base. Keith and his twin brother, Ken were very close, they shared an interest in electronics and flying. Keith owned his own TV repair shop for many years and he and his twin both worked at the House of Sound. Keith spent countless hours building, flying and repairing model airplanes. He was a member of the Bridgerland RC Club and also a dedicated member of the Civil Air Patrol, where he enjoyed participating in Honors for funerals. Keith had many lifelong friends that he met through these two groups. Keith's passion in life was airplanes, he loved everything about them. In his younger years, he had his private pilot's license and owned his own J3 Piper Cub, which he was very proud of. Keith wore a jacket for many years with the slogan, "I'd Rather Be Flying."Over the past several years, Keith has enjoyed going to the Rec Center often and doing a lot of hiking. Many mornings you could find Keith sitting at the counter in Angie's restaurant, where he enjoyed visiting with friends. Another passion of Keith's was fiddle music, and he would often travel to Weiser, Idaho, for the National Fiddle Contest. Keith was always a happy person and a joy to be around. He was very kind and generous and went out of his way to make others smile. He loved the company of friends and neighbors and would plan a get-together each summer for a steak fry. Keith was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Arthur Dean, Richard, Kenneth (twin), his ex-wife, Barbara, daughters, Kristie and Lori. He is survived by his Sister, DeeAnn Cole of Washburn, Mo., Son, Randy (Sandy) Maurer of Nibley, Utah, grandchildren, Brock, Nick, and Megan, and one great grandson, Jackson, many nieces and nephews.
