Keith McCombs, 93, passed away on Sept. 4, 2008, at Terrace Grove Assisted Living Center in Logan, Utah. He was born on April 5, 1915, to Andrew and Zelda McCombs in Smithfield. He grew up in Smithfield and attended North Cache High School. He married Golda Reeder on March 16, 1942, in Las Vegas, Nev. They were later sealed in the Logan LDS Temple. Keith served in World War II in the Western Pacific as an operating engineer in the Army. The training he received provided the skill that he used throughout his life as a heavy equipment operator. He lived in Idaho, Arizona, Nevada, Utah and California during his career. He and Golda enjoyed traveling together in the Western United States. His hobbies were fishing and gardening. He enjoyed his nieces and nephews. He has lived a very independent life and took pride in his ability to take care of things on his own. He was a high priest in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as a home teacher, ward clerk and as ward librarian with Golda for 30 years. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harold; and sister, Carma. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Golda. A viewing will be held on Tuesday evening, Sept. 9, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 85 South Main, in Smithfield, and on Wednesday morning, Sept. 10, at the Smithfield First Ward, 175 South 100 West, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the funeral service at noon.
