Kelly Goddard McLanahan, 50, of Tallahassee, passed through this life and entered into eternal rest unexpectedly on March 9, 2017.Kelly was born on December 25, 1966 in East Point GA. She graduated from Lincoln High School and earned a degree from Florida State University in 1997. She began her professional career in Atlanta, working as a paralegal and for various corporations. In 2004, she moved back to Tallahassee and began working for the State of Florida. Her most recent position was with the Public Service Commission.Of all of Kelly's hopes and dreams in life, the biggest and most important to her was to become a mother, and preferably of a daughter. In 2007 that dream was realized with the birth of her daughter, Ashley Rose (Rosebud). It was easily Kelly's proudest moment. She treasured each and every moment with Ashley and enjoyed watching her dance, play soccer, learn gymnastics or simply spend time together just being mother and daughter. While Kelly is gone way too early, she will be remembered as a loving wife, daughter, mother and friend. She was funny, smart, sarcastic (in a good way), caring, sincere, and most of all, the mother of Ashley. She is and always will be incredibly missed.Kelly is survived by her husband, Brian McLanahan of Tallahassee; daughter Ashley; stepsons Josh and Andrew; her father Bruce Goddard of Tallahassee; and brother Brian (Andrea) Goddard of Tallahassee. Kelly was preceded in death by her mother, Gloria Segars Goddard of Tallahassee. The family has requested a private ceremony for Kelly. In lieu of flowers, we request that you consider a donation to Big Bend Hospice of Tallahassee, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd (32308), phone 850-878-5310.
