Green, KendallKendall Wright Green, age 96, of Nekoosa, died on Saturday, August 19, at his home. Services will be held at 11 AM at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Carlton Andersen will officiate. Memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 23, from 4 PM until 7 PM at Feldner/Ritchay Funeral Home in Nekoosa and from 10 AM until the time of services on Thursday at the church. Memorials may be designated to the Shirley Bentz Green music scholarship fund.Ken was born on June 14, 1921, in Scott Haven, PA, to Thomas and Clara (Wright) Green. He married Shirley A. Bentz in Nekoosa on March 19, 1945. She preceded him in death on March 18, 2003.Ken was a sergeant during WWII, serving 39 months as a radar technician. After the service, he worked 32 years for the Nekoosa-Edwards Paper Company, retiring as manager of advertising and sales promotion. Ken enjoyed his time singing with several local church choirs (Bethlehem Lutheran, Trinity Lutheran, CLF, Evangelical Free Church, Immanuel Lutheran, and St. Luke's), as well as barbershop and Monteverdi Chorale. He was a lifetime runner, completing two marathons, many Pittsville Heart and Sole races, and local racing events. He credits his long life to "God and jogging." Kendall enjoyed fishing, drum and bugle corps, playing cards, and attending children's & grandchildren's sporting and music events. Bible study and exercise were daily routines. His favorite Sousa march or Dukes of Dixieland jazz often accompanied Saturday chores. He was an avid reader, and enjoyed writing journals and family letters.Survivors include his 4 children, Marcy (Mel) Miracle of Vancouver, WA, Karen (Brendan) Doughty of Nekoosa, Harry (Mary Jo) Green of Nekoosa, and Kirby (Debbie) Green of Fort Myers, FL; grandchildren Christopher Davis (Nira Gilad), Joseph (Jenelle) Miracle, Greta (Luke Williams) Miracle, Nathan (Keri) Green, Chelsey (Paul Laeske) Green, and Gabriel (Emily Denlinger) Green ; great grandchildren; Isabel and Max Miracle, Penelope and Audrey Miracle-Williams, Jonah and Clara Green, Estelle Laeske, Shiri Gilad, and Wilder Green; brother-in-law, Fred Bentz, Minneapolis, MN, and sister-in-law, Jean Green, Bridgeville, PA, and nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley, infant son Jeffrey, his parents, three sisters, Alberta Stewart, Helen Chambers, and Ashley Cornelius, and three brothers, Oscar, Harry, and Jack Green.The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dad's compassionate caregivers, the Aspirus Hospice team, and the VA Home Care team.
