Kenneth Adolph SingleKenneth Adolph Single, 82, of Alexandria passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2016, after a long illness. Ken was born on January 5, 1934, in Chicago, Illinois to Elsa Rossnagel and Adolph Single. After attending Illinois Wesleyan University and Northwestern Dental School in Chicago, he came to Alexandria in 1959 as a Lieutenant and later a Captain in the United States Air Force. Ken opened his General and Family Dentistry office in Alexandria and practiced for 50 years until he retired in 2015. He loved his practice, his many patients and his staff who were like family to him. Ken was a past member of the Alexandria Rotary Club and Parlangua Mardis Gras Krewe. He was District and State President of the Louisiana Dental Association. Ken was an avid fisherman and enjoyed gardening, making wine, reading, cooking and spent many an evening tending his smoker in his outdoor patio. Devoted to his family, Ken is survived by his children, Julie L. Wellinger, Jennifer C. Strasner (Sheldon), Todd R. Single, and Gregory A. Single, his stepchildren, David I. Wilkinson, Ashley W. Glisson (Chris) and Matthew C. Wilkinson, 16 grandchildren, Dietrich, Erich, and Elise Wellinger, Helen, Bert, and Edward (Ned) Strasner, Joshua, Paul, and Clinton Single, Cameron and Alexander Single, Connor and Alexandra Glisson, Coates and Winifred Wilkinson and 3 great grandchildren. Ken is also survived by one brother, Clarence V. Single (Marylu) of Thousand Oaks, California and mother-in-law Dorothy Stuckey. He is preceded in death by his wife Linnie Stuckey Single, his father-in-law, Coates Stuckey, and his parents. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Compassionate Care Hospice, The Regency House, and Matthews Memorial Nursing Home.A gathering of friends and relatives will be held Sunday, December 4th at Kramer Funeral Home from 1:00pm-3:00pm.
