June 21, 1938 ~ Dec. 1, 2016Dammeron Valley, UT-Our beloved husband, brother, dad and grandpa passed away peacefully on Dec. 1, 2016. He endured a difficult fight against cancer. He was ultimately victorious by returning home to Heaven having lived an honorable, influential life.He was born on June 21, 1938 to Kenneth and Gwen Waldram Garn in Rexburg, Idaho. He married Charlene Hayes August 13, 1964 in the Logan LDS Temple. She preceded him in death in 1983. He married Cindy Conely May 30, 1987, and later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.Accomplishments throughout his life included attending BYU, serving an LDS mission in the Gulf States, and service with the National Guard in Ft. Leonard Wood Missouri as a hospital medic. Brett worked for many years for StorageTek. He loved to tinker and fix things. His passion was restoring antique cars and he enjoyed being a member of the VMCCA. He loved bluegrass and country music, and BYU sports. Brett was enthusiastic about history and politics. He lightheartedly expressed that one of his final satisfactions in life was being able to cast his vote against Hillary for president.Brett is survived by his wife: Cindy; children: Jenifer Wienclaw (Dave), Heidi, Heather Gurr (Mike), Kevin (Elisa), Aimee Cooper (Adam), Gina Black (Cody); sisters: Julie Brinton, Laurie Rich, Kris Lewis, Chris Cunningham (sister-in-law); 17 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Char; mother; father; brother, Phil; and grandson, Oliver. There will be a small family service on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Cannon Mortuary, 2460 Bengal Blvd, Cottonwood Heights, UT 84121. Graveside dedication will directly follow at Memorial Mountain View Cemetery located at 3115 Bengal Blvd, Cottonwood Heights, UT 84121.
