COLUMBIA CITY — Kenneth Ray "Big Chew" Collins, age 73, of Columbia City, passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at his residence. Mr. Collins was born on April 10, 1942, in Gilmore, Kentucky, to the late Adolph Collins and Nora Bolen. Kenneth worked for Ball Brass Aluminum Foundry for 25 years. Big Chew loved being outdoors and enjoyed fishing, camping, woodworking and chewing tobacco. Survivors include two daughters, Sheila Collins of Columbia City and Nanetta Tucker of South Milford; five grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Annie Kessler of Waterloo and Helen and Jack Criswell of Waterloo; and a brother, Ray and Kay Collins of Wawaka. Big Chew was also preceded in death by six sisters, Irene Belcher, Geraldine Collins, Mary Jo Bolen, Betty Van Hoozer, Nannie McPherson and Josephome Baily; and one brother, Sonny Collins. Visitation will be held today, Thursday, March 24, 2016, from 4-8 p.m. at Independent Baptist Church in South Milford, Indiana. A funeral service will take place on Friday, March 25, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Independent Baptist Church in South Milford. Burial will take place in Orange Cemetery near Rome City. Officiating the funeral services are Pastors Willie Collins and Ollie Smith. Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville is in charge of arrangements.
