FORT WAYNE — In the early morning hours on Monday, September 5, 2016, Kenneth Emlich passed away in his home peacefully of natural causes at the age of 91. Kenneth was born on "Flag Day" June 14, 1925, in Lima, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his wife, Madonna (Albert) Emlich; his oldest daughter, Sandra (Emlich) Kempf; two brothers, Fred and Robert Emlich; and two sisters, Dorothy Nommay and Lavan Murphy. He is survived by his loving daughter, Cindy (Mel) Curtis; son-in-law Richard Kempf of Fort Wayne; and grandchildren, Stephanie Dawn Kesler, Kevin Cooney of New Haven, Gunner Scott (Jilleen) Kesler of Paoli, Craig and Maria Curtis of Orland, and Mark Curtis of Union City. He also had several great grandchildren, April Pecchia, Ashley Plessinger, Jenifer and Keith Gautschi, Scott Kesler Jr., Cody Kesler, Jude Carrico, Meagan Kesler, Tyler, Chase and Nate Curtis; six great-great-grandchildren; and his niece/godchild, Kimberly (Leslie) Shenfeld. He was a hero to each member of his family. Kenneth served in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean War earning several European Campaign Awards and personal achievement medals. Kenny was a Worth Noble of the Mystic Shrine in the Mizpah Shrine in the Mizpah Temple of Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was also a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 241 in Waynedale, Indiana. Kenneth worked in sales for the better part of his life. As per Ken's wishes there will be private family services. Burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens in Fort Wayne, Indiana, with military honors. D.O. McComb and Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
