Kenneth George "King" Acosta, 67, of Nacogdoches, passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2016 in Nacogdoches. He was born on June 18, 1949 in Nacogdoches, Texas, the son of Lawrence Wayne Acosta and Lilly Mae Lazarine Acosta. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the Clawson Assembly of God Church in Lufkin, with Pastor Kevin Poage officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Wells. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 5, 2016 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Laird Funeral Home in Nacogdoches. Kenneth grew up in the Nacogdoches area, he attended Nacogdoches ISD, soon after high school he decided to join the United States
Army and serve our country. He met Sylvia Ann Stanford through mutual friends, they were married on September 17, 1971 and had a beautiful marriage that lasted them a wonderful 45 years. He was a loving husband, and a good strong Christian family man. Someone his children will always look up to. Kenneth was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved spending time with his family and spoiling his grandchildren. He was always proud of his carpentry work, he liked to step back and admire his work once he completed it. Kenneth was a talker, he enjoyed visits with his friends and family church who all knew him as "King". He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans for many years. He loved our Lord and savior and was a member of Clawson Assembly of God. Pallbearers for Mr. Acosta will be Roy Richardson, Kenneth Johnson, Tim Bell, Tommy Thompson, Lono Russell, and Bob Stanley. Honorary pallbearers will be David Murphy, Ronnie Allbrook, Bill Spears, and Bubba Buster. He is survived by his loving wife, Sylvia Acosta; sons: Jason Acosta and wife, Regina of Nacogdoches, Bradley Acosta and wife, Martie of Douglass, Luke Acosta of Nacogdoches; daughters: Amber Acosta of Nacogdoches, Emma Wallace of Clarksville, Arkansas; brother: Gale Acosta and wife, Lupe of Lufkin, and; sisters: Mary Buster of Nacogdoches, Pat Dixon and husband, Johnny of Lufkin, Jeanie Pinkston and husband, Travis of Nacogdoches, Margie Dixon of Lufkin, Carol Sims and husband Johnny of Deweyville; grandchildren: Kirsty Acosta of Livingston, Sydney Acosta of Nacogdoches, Gavin Acosta of Nacogdoches, and Bailey Acosta of Lufkin; great grandchildren: Kyleigh Acosta and Anthony Acosta both of Livingston, along with other family and friends who love him and will miss him dearly. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, JC Acosta, Franklin Acosta, James "Bubby" Acosta and sister, Naomi Vann.
