KENNETH H. KAHLERJanuary 20, 1928 - October 26, 2016Dallas - KENNETH HERMAN KAHLER, 88, a resident of Dallas died Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at his home. He was born on January 20, 1928 in Danbury, Iowa the son of Herman and Clara A. Wonder Kahler. He moved to Onalaska, Washington from Iowa and then to Oregon in 1945. He served in the
United States Navy from January of 1946 to November of 1947. He was discharged as a Seaman First Class. Ken met a nice young lady, Betty Lou Heide, at a community dance in Independence. They were married on August 26, 1949 in Monmouth. He began working in lumber mills: Willamette Industries and Godsey Lumber before owning and operating a sawmill. He and several others owned and worked the mill and moved it to California in 1956. They returned to Dallas in 1961. In 1964, Ken started working for Adolph Electric as an appliance repairman. He went on to do an apprenticeship as an electrician and became a journeyman and licensed supervisor. He was with Adolph's for more than 25 years, retiring in 1992. Ken was an avid league bowler for about forty years and enjoyed hunting deer and elk. He was a past member of the American Legion in Dallas and the
Elks Lodge in Independence. He is survived by his wife Betty Kahler of Dallas, daughter Roxanna (Dennis) Buchholz of Dallas, sons Bradley (Diane) Kahler of Crescent Lake and Bruce (Kris) Kahler of Keizer, along with 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving is a sister Shirley Mehl of Gualala, California. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Betty Lou Adams and brother Melvin Kahler. Viewing will be from 2:00 until 8:00pm Monday, October 31st in the Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center. Funeral services will begin at 11:00am Tuesday, November 1st in the mortuary followed by a private interment in Restlawn Memory Gardens. To leave a message or memory for the family please go to
