Kenneth L. DixBOWLING GREEN: Kenneth L. Dix, 75, of Bowling Green, formerly of Gibsonburg, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2017 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. He was born on July 26, 1942 in Port Clinton, OH to Zenas and Alma (Kramer) Dix.In 1964 Ken drafted in the Army where he served his country in the Vietnam War until 1966. On October 14, 1967 Ken married Cheryl (Sergent) Abel, she survives and they later divorced. Ken is survived by their three children, Kelly (Sam) Maynard of Clyde, Dawn Laraway and Chad (Tammy) Dix both of Gibsonburg; grandchildren, Dylan and Ryan Matherne, Matt (Leah) Jahna, Mykel (Jacki) Jahna, Jordan (Brittney) Jahna, Ashleigh (Tyler Gerner) Dix, Alex, Austin, and Cairin Dix, Sierra and Lucas Zamudio, and Aaron (Allison) Lind; great-grandchildren, Audrey and Owen Jahna; sister, Marilyn Bagley; and, sister-in-law, Janice Dix. Ken found a companion in Carol Abel, who survives along with her children, Cindy (Steve) Heilman, Robert (Amy) Tody, and Fred (Lisa) Tody. He worked as a milkman for Meadow Gold Dairy for several years. Ken was also a police officer with the Gibsonburg Police Department, and worked at the Gibsonburg Elevator, Haldon Miller Trucking as a driver, and a farmer. Ken was a member of the Gibsonburg American Legion Post #17, Teamsters Local 20, and the
VFW. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching western movies and spending time with his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Helen Witt, Richard Dix, and Robert Dix. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 8, 2017 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at the Herman-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 9, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home where there will be an additional hour of visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow at West Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Honor Flight of Northwest Ohio, or the Village of Gibsonburg Veteran's Memorial.
