Kenneth "Kenny" Collins Preston II, surrounded by his loved ones, passed away at home on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 in Las Cruces, NM at the age of 85.Kenneth is survived by his wife Carmen Preston, children Eric Andres and Robert Andres, grandchildren Brandon Evans, Brittaney, Wesley, Alisa and Adam Andres, great grandchildren Dyanna, Jeremiah, Madison, Macie and Miranda Andres, Sophia Andres, Gabriella Apodaca, Kelly Andres, Rider Chacon and Adelyn Carmen Evans, his brother Chuck O'Neal (Bonnie), sister Linda Coshenet (David) as well as numerous nieces and nephews including Brett Preston, Greg Preston and Kimberly Preston, Tess and Lucas Coshenet. He is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth Collins Preston and Rue Hammons and his brother Sumner Preston of Las Cruces, NM.Kenneth was born on April 7, 1932 in Hagerman, NM to Kenneth Collins Preston and Rue Hammons. He graduated from Roswell High School in 1950. He then went on to work as an engineer for King Bearing Inc., in Long Beach, CA. He married his wife Carmen Grajeda Molinar in 1971. The couple enjoyed trips to their home in Baja, California. They would play hours of cards, with their friends, eat at La Fonda, a favorite restaurant of Kenny's and enjoy their time together on the beach. Kenny's children and grandchildren also have many fond memories of trips to Angels Camp in Baja Mexico. They played for countless hours in the tide pools with Kenny not far from them, watching and sharing in their excitement of the treasures they found. Anyone who knew Kenny would describe him as the "walking Encyclopedia", due to his great knowledge of many topics. Kenny would wake up in the morning, read his newspaper and have his crossword done within 20 minutes.Kenneth Preston made a huge, positive impact on the lives around him. He was loved dearly by his friends and family. Kenneth will be greatly missed by all. At Kenneth's request, cremation has taken place and his ashes will be spread out at sea.
