Kenneth ROBERTSON Obituary

May 26, 1926 - Nov 10, 2017

This obituary is administered by:
KENNETH ANSTRUTHER ROBERTSONKenneth, late of Regina, SK, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2017 at the age of 91 years. He was predeceased by his first wife Morag Robertson (1995); and his parents Donald and Viola Robertson. Ken is survived by wife Nell; son David (Sandi) of Regina and their children Bryn (Taylor Srochenski), Annie, and Elizabeth; son Peter of Toronto; and daughter Eleanor of High River. Ken is also survived by Nell's children: Billy Knapman of Medicine Hat; Jamie Knapman (Colleen Hall) of Regina; and Terry Knapman of Redcliffe, and their children and grandchildren. Ken was born on May 26, 1926 in Scarborough, Tobago, Trinidad and Tobago to Donald and Viola Robertson. Upon completing high school, Ken left Trinidad and Tobago for Canada and attended the University of Manitoba for his undergraduate degree. After obtaining his degree, Ken went on to study medicine at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland. Ken met Morag while interning at a hospital in Glasgow, Scotland where Morag was working as a physiotherapist. In 1957 they married, and in 1958 they immigrated to Canada. They first settled in Perdue, Saskatchewan where Dave was born, then moved to Rockglen where Pete joined the family and then to Assiniboia where Eleanor was born. Ken practiced medicine in Assiniboia for many years, and in 1975 the family moved to Regina where Ken opened an office on Dewdney Avenue and practiced there until his retirement in 1996. Throughout his career, Ken worked tirelessly as a family practitioner, tending to the many needs of his patients. Ken met and married Nell Knapman in 1996, and they spent twenty years together. Many of their first winters were spent in Arizona where the two enjoyed their time as snowbirds. Ken was a voracious reader and an intelligent man who could converse on many topics. His memory was remarkable and just this last Thanksgiving, he was quoting "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner" from memory. Ken could speak many languages and the workers at his care home were impressed that he could speak with them in French and Spanish. He loved his grandkids and was proud of their accomplishments. The family would like to express our warmest thanks and appreciation to the Personal Care Staff at College Park II for all their loving care given to dad during his stay there.A Memorial Service will be held at St. Mary's Anglican Church, 3337 15th Avenue, Regina, SK on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would like his friends to simply give a thanks to your family physician on their next visit. Ken was always thankful for his many "grateful patients". To leave an online message of condolence, please visit www.speersfuneralchapel.com
