Kenneth William Flavin Obituary

Oct 30, 1967 - Dec 26, 2022

This obituary is administered by:

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and cousin. Kenneth (Kenny) William Flavin passed away on December 26th 2022 at Peter Lougheed Hospital at the age of 55.

He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years Shelley Flavin, daughter Melanie (Christopher) Duarte, mother Bessie (John) Connolly, soon to be grandfather of baby Duarte in June 2023, siblings: Darlene (Alan) Myers, Isabelle (Archie) Chisholm, Phoebe (Dwayne) Cleary, Mary (Steve) Williams, Debbie Wallace, Leo (Bev) Kelly, Mike (Annette) Carter, sister Sharlene Lays, and many nieces and nephews.

He was pre deceased by his biological father Lorne Flavin, biological mother Beverly Jamieson, adopted dad John Connolly, brother James Flavin, brother Michael Benoit, brother Wayne Connolly, brother Paul Flavin, sister Ann Marie Worth, brother Rick Flavin, and niece Chantelle

Kenny was born in Guysborough County Nova Scotia and grew up around the Guysborough/Monastery Nova Scotia area. He met his beloved wife Shelley in 1988, and got engaged on Christmas Eve in 1989. They then got married on July 16th 1994, soon later moved to Alberta and welcomed their daughter Melanie into the world in March of 2000.

Kenny was a hardworking, caring and humorous man. He always put others first and made sure you had a smile on your face before worrying about himself. He loved being around family and friends no matter the reason. Whether it was sitting around with a couple drinks, fishing, golfing, a good game of darts, baseball in his younger years, trips to the beach or just relaxing at home, he rarely spent time alone. He enjoyed going on drives to the beach with Melanie and they always had to stop at Dairy Queen for an ice cream treat afterwards. He was a huge fan of the Montreal Canadians and Toronto Blue Jays, and you made sure not to bother him when one of those games were on. Him and Shelley enjoyed camping trips together, going to dances back in Monastery, cuddling up on the couch to watch a good movie and baking together. Not to mention driving each other crazy on the daily out of love. He will be dearly missed by his family and large circle of friends.

The family would like to thank all the nurses and doctors in Unit 39 that took care of Kenny during his stay at the PLC.

Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or funeral service taking place at this time.

Any donations in Kenny’s memory can be made to the Alberta Lung Foundation ablung.ca

You can to the family or in memory of Kenneth Flavin.
