The Life of a Blues Legend

Kenneth was born on March 28,1956 to Irene and Kenneth “Buddy” Scott in Chicago, Illinois. He was one of six children between them both. He graduated from Drake Elementary School and attended Wendell Phillips High School.

Kenneth’s passion for playing guitar started at the age of 5 years old as he comes from a family of established musicians. Over the years he became a master guitar player and one of the most versatile vocalist in the entertainment industry. His father, Buddy Scott instilled music in him at an early age and he created his own band as a teenager called “The Vandelias”. His father witnessed his passion for music and made him a part of “ The Scott Brothers World Band”. The Scott Brothers World Band was the original band for Tyrone Davis. In 1981 he created the “Platinum Band”. At that time Platinum became both their own separate organization and the new Tyrone Davis Tour Band. The Platinum Band were their own entity of the Tyrone Davis Show. Fans around the world were coming to see not only Tyrone Davis, but HOLLYWOOD and The Platinum Band. Platinum became the premier band of the 90’s. They thrilled audiences all around the world with their live performances for over 30 years. As Platinum Band was in the studio recording their album, they were sought out by Casper and were featured on the world-wide hit “The Casper Slide”.

Hollywood entertained audiences all around the globe with his high energy performances, his high notes, his “Dotty” guitar, and coordinated dances with the Platinum Band. He played and composed a variety of music from blues, to ballads, to r&b. Blue Tone International voted Hollywood “Entertainer of the Year”, and Platinum “Band of the Year”. He was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame, The Black American Historical Blues Society of Canada, and The Blues Passion of France.

Hollywood’s Blues and entertainment roots began with his father, and it was important to him to uphold the Scott family legacy. Not only did he hold the Scott legacy close to his heart, but family in general. “Wood” as he became so lovingly known by his family members was the heart and soul of the family. He developed a special bond with his nieces, and will forever be recognized as “Uncle-Daddy”.  Whether you knew him as Hollywood, Wood, Uncle-Daddy or any other name, you know he didn’t play about  two things, his daughters, or rehearsal. He loved his family and his music with his heart and soul.

Hollywood leaves a lasting legacy for his soulful voice, his stage presence his leadership, and his undeniably unique swag.

Kenneth “Hollywood” Scott was called home to be in heaven with his mother, Irene and father, Buddy on December 30, 2025. Other precious family members who have preceded him in death are his sisters, Claudette and Donna; his brother, Jerome; his niece, Cherice; his nephews, Jay and Mario; his uncle, Walter (who he shared a special bond with); and grandson, William (AJ).
