Kenton Marion "Mitch" MitchellKenton Marion "Mitch" Mitchell, 91, of Lafayette, passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2016 at 9:30 p.m. at his residence. Kenton was born on June 30, 1925 in Lock Seven, WV to the late John Henry and Losha B. (Boggess) Mitchell. He served in the Navy during World War 11 from 1942 to 1945. Kenton married Sarah Bloyd Richardson on May 22, 1995 in Lafayette, and she survives. He worked for various companies as an electrician and boilermaker for most of his life before retiring in 1990. Kenton was a member of the Church of Christ, a lifetime member of the VFW #1154, American Legion #492, and a lifetime member of the Uptowners Club, and 40 & 8. He enjoyed dancing, karaoke, golfing, fishing, playing pool, playing cards; both euchre and poker.Surviving are 4 children, Shelby Owens, Rick (Becky) Mitchell, Steve Mitchell, and Sheila Mitchell, all of Gallipolis, OH, and 4 step-children, Wayne (Diona) Richardson, Ervin Richardson, Bradley Richardson, Corina Justice, all of Lafayette. Also surviving are 2 brothers, Darrell (Carol) Mitchell of West Virginia, Pat Mitchell of North Carolina, one sister, Shirley Spears of Georgia, 16 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.He is preceded in death by 3 brothers, Delbert, Merlin, and Vernon, and one sister, Arlene.Services will held on Friday, October 14, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior at Simplicity Funeral Care with Theresa Fischer conducting the service.
