Kevin Daniel Munroe, age 28, a band member of Mishkegogamang First Nation, passed away suddenly on Sunday, February 19, 2017, in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Kevin was born on September 12, 1988, at Geraldton District Hospital in Geraldton, Ontario. He lived in Central Pat as a child, attended elementary and high school in Thunder Bay and lived in Sioux Lookout where his parents worked. As he got older, he worked as a Security Guard in Ogoki Post. He was recently hired as a Line Cutter and Field Assistant for NorOnt doing exploration for the Ring of Fire. Growing up, he frequently visited family in Geraldton, where he resided for the last several years. He loved spending time with family and friends, being outdoors, playing guitar, listening to music, cooking and baking. He played football and was a boxer in his younger years, and still enjoyed the sports. Kevin was the first child of Garry and Barbara Munroe; brother to Tamara and Tara; Nephew of David (Rebecca), Ronnie (Gloria), and Darren (Lesley), Gregory (Sandra), Dorothy (Gerald), Nancy, Teresa, Harriet (Richard), January (partner of late uncle Murray), Olivia (partner of late uncle Ernie); Grandson to Donald, Emelda and Daisy; Godfather to Jadyn; partner to Shania and father to Colton and Trevor. He also has numerous extended family members that reside in various places in Ontario and Manitoba. He was predeceased by his first sister, Nicole; grandfather Henry; cousin Simon; uncles Murray and Ernie and numerous extended family members. His sense of humor and his kind personality will be treasured and greatly missed by all that knew him. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, February 24, 2017 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm in the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma Street in Thunder Bay. Kevin will then be transported to Geraldton, Ontario where visitation will continue in Fawcett Funeral Home, 114 1st Avenue NW, Geraldton on Monday afternoon from 1:00pm until 4:00pm. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 28 at 11:00 am in St. James Anglican Church, 527 Main Street, Geraldton with Rev. Larry Armstrong officiating. Interment will follow in Pinegrove Cemetery. Should friends so desire, donations made in memory of Kevin to a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
