Kevin Simms, a beloved member of the Philadelphia community and Deacon to People First Baptist Church, passed away on October 25, 2024, at the age of 69. Son of the late Herbert and Theresa Simms was admired by many. He grew up in West Philadelphia with his brothers; Austin Iven Horne, Herbert Simms, and Terrance Simms. Together as family they navigated the future with many hopes. Kevin fell in love with his sweetheart, Pauline Simms, and they joined in matrimony on June 2, 1975. Kevin's strong affectionate love for his family and his passion for his son successful academic education led to his son's graduation from the Art Institute of Philadelphia. Kevin had love of many hobbies such as fishing, Atlantic City New Jersey trips, hanging out with family during cookouts, cooking delicious foods for entertainment, watching his favorite team on TV- the Philadelphia Eagles. Kevin's secular work history led him to many years of fun adventures at Jerome Foods, Acme Box, and the National Book Company where he published bibles for distribution until his retirement in 2020. Kevin was an extremely dedicated, hard-worker with no fear of challenging tasks. He was known for his kind heart and gentle nature, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Kevin will be remembered for his infectious laughter, his passion for storytelling, and his unwavering optimism. He will be missed by many family members; son and daughter in law Kevin and Sara Simms Jr.; brother and sister in law Herbert and Betty Simms; nieces; Mia Reames, Kenya Massie, Avonna Simms, nephews; Austin Horne, cousins, and many coworkers and friends over a lifetime who admired his spirit and his love of life itself. He leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will continue to inspire all who knew him. Kevin's presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those whose lives he impacted. He rests now, but is safe in God's memory.
