LaDonna Lewer, 84, of Iowa Falls, died on Friday, Oct. 7, 2016, at Hospice of North Iowa in Mason City. Mass of the Resurrection was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Mark Catholic Church in Iowa Falls with burial in church cemetery. Visitation was held 5-7 p.m. Monday at the Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls with a 7 p.m. Vigil Service.LaDonna was born on June 12, 1932 in Brayton, the daughter of Harold and Kathryn Thiessen. She went to elementary school at Lewis Consolidated School in Lewis, and graduated from the Lewis High School in 1950.She grew up on a farm west of Atlantic, and was a star basketball player in high school. After graduating, she moved to Omaha, Neb., and became a top-notch secretary at the Union Pacific Railroad. She married James Oakley Lewer of Atlantic, on April 16, 1955. Jim and LaDonna purchased Sunrise Housing in Iowa Falls, in 1969 and built a successful business together. LaDonna loved to travel with her husband and were blessed to see many parts of the world together. She loved watching sports, golfing, dancing to the big band music with Jim. She loved being a Mother to her five children and raising her kids in Iowa Falls.LaDonna is survived by her sister Shirley Weideman and brother-in-law Wendall Weideman and their three children Denise Lowary and her husband Jeff Lowary and their children Derek, Cole and Annamaria, Mark Weideman and his wife Tammy and their three children Tyler, Matt and Amy, Shery Pross and her husband Nick Pross and their two children Sara and Pluma. LaDonna is survived by her five children James Lewer II and his wife Jennifer Lewer and their two children Bryan and Ashlee Lewer, JoBeth Lewer and her daughter Avalan Wilson, Mike Lewer and his wife Detra Lewer and their son Nicholas Lewer, Angela Shane and her sons Lucas Shane and Austin Shane, and Jack Lewer and his wife Penny Lewer and their two daughters Chelsey (Aaron) Ites and Jaclyn Lewer and one great grandson Jay Ites and two great granddaughters on the way. She was preceded in death by her husband James Oakley Lewer, her grandson Burkley Shane, and her parents Harold and Kathryn Thiessen.
