Lance Amiel Williams Obituary
Feb 04, 1993 - Dec 23, 2017
Lance "L.A." Williams was born February 4, 1993, in Cleveland, Ohio to parents Cytonia and Lance Williams Sr. Lance a devoted, loving son went to rest in heaven on December 23, 2017, doing what he loved to do most DRIVING. "L.A.", as he was known to most, attended Nordonina High School where he played football and basketball. He received his diploma from ECOT in 2011. He was a great athlete, lover of all sports and a beautiful son.
Since he was a little boy he had a fascination with cars. He loved to drive and loved cars in general. Lance could tell you everything about any car, from the size of the engine, any recalls there might be, how much horsepower it has, to its overall safety rating. He would let you know if you had a good car or not. Lance owned at least 15 cars in the 8 years he was legally able to drive. Lance took pride in his cars, which were always immaculate and extremely nice. He had a special love for BMW's and owned several. Lance was an excellent driver for his age and drove to and from Florida many times.
Lance started working at a very young age. He delivered newspapers for the Cleveland Plain Dealer with his grandmother Elaine since the age of 12, until he was 20. Lance became very well known around the depot and was great at his job. He was often asked to be a sub for other carriers and was one of the youngest employees they had and one of the most responsible. He got up every morning 7 days a week around 2:30 am to get the job done. Lance took pride in his position there. Lance also worked as a Car salesman at many dealerships since he was 19. Heis lastest employer was Great Lakes Hyundai in Streetsboro, OH. He loved his career, co-workers and was very serious about selling cars. He was knowledgeable and respected by many in the car sales industry for his work acumen.
Lance had an "old soul", he was not your average 24-year-old man. He could hold a mature conversation with anyone, about anything, whether be politics, sports, cars, music, the latest gadgets, and/or TV, (especially reality TV). His love of music ranged from Marvin Gaye, The Ishley Brothers, to Garth Brooks, Opera and Classical music (seriously). Lance was a good person with a kind and gentle spirit. He was very independent, loving, respectful and mature. He would wake up every morning with the latest news on sports and/or politics. Everyone that knows Lance knows that he was Carmelo Anthony's Biggest fan.
A typical day for Lance consisted of working, visiting with his grandparents, his mother, watching a little TV, eating (he loved to eat) and often was in bed no later than 10 pm, this was his 7 day a week routine, he rarely veered from this routine. He was known as "The General" because of his dutiful and responsible ways. He was also known as "The Negotiator" because he could solve just about any problem anyone had, ranging from getting out of traffic tickets, rental agreements, to getting anything removed from a credit report. Lance also had a great sense of humor, he loved to crack jokes and make people laugh.
Looking back on his life the irony of his tragic death and his love for cars is unbelievable. He would not have chosen to leave this earth any other way than behind the wheel of a car. Lance stayed in his own lane and never caused any trouble.
Lance was a wonderful human being, a strong, kind man. Over the years I was told so many times told how lucky I was to have a son like him, and indeed, I was. He was both his grandmother Elaine and my very best friend. Not a day would go by that we did not talk on the phone several times a day, sharing our day with one another. Not only was Lance my son, he was my best friend, my confidant, my protector, my father, my brother, my doctor, my financial advisor, my life coach, my conscience, my everything, my reason for living. He will forever be loved and missed. I can't wait until we meet again son...your mom.
