Larry Ennis ScottLarry Ennis Scott, 87 of Greeley, CO, passed away March 13, 2017 at Grace Pointe of Greeley. He was born on February 22, 1930 in Volga, South Dakota. His parents were Ernest and Audrey Scott. He was raised in Mt. Vernon, South Dakota and attended public schools there.Larry attended the University of South Dakota and graduated in 1953 with a degree in Journalism. After serving in the U.S. Army of Occupation in Austria as a 1st Lieutenant, he returned to the University of South Dakota where he received his law degree in 1956. He was admitted to the bar in both South Dakota and Colorado. He married Talitha (Tally) Birner in 1952 and together had three children; Christopher, of Houston, TX (formerly of San Francisco); Anne, of Flagstaff, Arizona; and John, of Greeley, CO. Larry and his wife were divorced in 1974 and he never remarried. Larry was involved in banking for most of his professional life and was president of Westlake First National Bank of Loveland, and University National Bank of Fort Collins. He later served as house counsel for First National Bank. He was active in community affairs and during his career he served on several foundations, including The University of Northern Colorado Foundation, The Colorado State University Foundation, The Monfort Foundation, and the Education Foundation. He also served on the Colorado Commission for Higher Education as its chair. He later practiced law in Fort Collins, but not very seriously.He retired in order to play tennis and golf, and to bike and travel. He enjoyed his friends and loved his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his children and his three grandchildren; Gavin, Jarek, and Annika.Per Larry's request, no services will be held.In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your local Humane Society.
