Johnson, Larry Ewing Larry Ewing Johnson was born on July 29, 1933, to Ewing Johnson and Elizabeth Imes. He passed away on August 4, 2017, at the age of 84. An Arizona native, he lived in Phoenix, Glendale and Peoria, Arizona, and attended Phoenix College. In 1951 he was drafted and served in the
Korean War from 1951 until 1953. On August 17, 1957, he married LaRae Johnson in Las Vegas, Nevada. Larry was a pioneer in telecommunications and fiber optics. He retired from AT&T after 33 years. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and driving fast sports cars. He was a pilot and loved flying and building planes. Larry is survived by his wife LaRae Johnson; children Sandy & Dwain Watts, Don Johnson & Glenda Johnson; grandchildren Heather & Darryl Daniels, Aaron & Beth Watts, Teresa & Garrett Farnsworth, and Kaley Johnson; great-grandchildren Shelbi Riches, Yazmine Daniels, Devon Farnsworth, Jayden and Lucas Watts; and great-great-grandchild Raiden Riches. A description of Larry's life would be: perfect family man, husband and friend. A memorial service will be held for Larry on Thursday, August 17, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at Best Funeral Services, 9380 West Peoria Avenue, Peoria, Arizona 85345, followed by 1:00 p.m. niche placement at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 North Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, Arizona 85024.
