DES PLAINES - Larry Franzen passed away unexpectedly at his home in Eagle River, Wisconsin on December 2, 2016. He was born on October 29, 1953 in Chicago, IL and spent most of his life in Des Plaines, Illinois until retiring to his beloved cabin in the woods in Eagle River, Wisconsin in 2009. He is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Marie (nee Ocwarz) Franzen and survived by his loving siblings, Jim Franzen, Diane (Donald) Storm, Kathy Franzen, Lynn Lowe, and Mary Franzen. His was a deeply beloved uncle to John Franzen, Mark (Lauren) Franzen, Jeff Franzen, Tracey (Robert) Nash, Donald (Alice) Storm, Jr., Jessica Strossner, Steven Strossner, Richard Strossner, Mary Strossner, and Dalton Lowe and an adored great-uncle to Robert Nash, Jr., Vivian Nash, Edith Franzen, and Rainer Franzen. A former Marine, Larry will be remembered for his great love for the outdoors, friendly smile, and boundless generosity. He was the happiest retiree and a devoted friend, who took the time to talk to everyone he met. A celebration of his life will be held at Countryside Saloon (2501 E. Ballard Rd.) in Des Plaines, Illinois on Monday, December 26, 2016 from 4pm-8pm.
