Services for Larry D. Gile, 77, of Creston, Iowa will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 16, at Powers Funeral Home 601 New York Ave. in Creston. Pastor Tony Thurston will officiate. Flag presentation will be conducted by Theodore J. Marten's V.F.W. Post #1797 of Creston. Online condolences may be given at www.powersfh.com Larry Dee Gile was born on August 10, 1939, in Emporia, Kan., to Mildred Thelma (Ziegler) Gile and Erwin Walter Gile. He graduated from Emporia High School in 1957, and attended the Kansas State Teachers College, where he graduated with a degree in Business Administration followed by his Master s degree in School Psychology. Larry served his country in the United States Air Force as a Captain. He manned a Minuteman ICBM missile silo as a Deputy Combat Crew Commander for the Strategic Air Command while stationed at Malmstrom AFB. Larry was united in marriage to Judy Kay Roberts on June 24, 1967, in Kansas City. Larry worked as a school psychologist in the Olathe, Kan school district, before moving to Marengo, Iowa, and then finally to Creston in 1972. Larry worked as the Director of Psychological Services for Area Education Agency 14 until his retirement in 1999. Larry is survived by his wife Judy Gile of Creston; daughter, Audra Groumoutis of Creston; son Jed Gile of Shenandoah;, a sister Janice (husband Robert) Supon of Topeka, Kan: and other family.
