PRATT-Krehbiel, Larry James 83, passed away January 6, 2016 at Hilltop Manor in Cunningham, KS. Larry was born on May 7, 1932 to Herman Gustav and Anna Marie (Albright) Krehbiel in Moundridge, KS. On February 3, 1952, he married Barbara June (Smith) in Moundridge. She survives. Early in his career, Larry became Manager at the Moundridge Coop Elevator Co. In this position, he combined two coops creating Mid Kansas Cooperative in Moundridge becoming its initial general manager. Mid Kansas Cooperative is the largest local Farmer Cooperative in Kansas. In 1968, Larry began working for Farmland Industries in McPherson. For 14 years, he served as a Business Consultant and head of Procurement for the State of Kansas. He became the General Manager of Iuka Cooperative Exchange in 1982, which he managed for 5 years. The creation of Agri Business Consulting was his last business venture, giving him the opportunity to consult and Interim manage throughout the Central United States. He worked with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) based in Washington DC. allowing him to travel several times to the Ukraine helping farmers set up Coops. Larry was a member of First United Methodist Church in Pratt, past member of Lions Club and the Optimist Club, and past president of Rotary. He was an avid golfer, fisherman and had an unyielding love for the Kansas City Royals. Survivors, in addition to his wife Barbara, include two sons, Bruce (Geneva) Krehbiel of Pratt, KS and Kevin (Paula) Krehbiel of Paola, KS; brother, Wayne (Patty) Krehbiel of Mt. Vernon, IL; sister, Loraine (Willard) Unruh of McPherson, KS; 8 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Elaine Stucky and Evelyn Vogts. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, with family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m. at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Road, Pratt, KS. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 12, at First United Methodist Church, Pratt with Reverend Marvin Ewertt presiding. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Pratt, KS.
