Larry OsborneNEW ALBANY: Larry Osborne formerly of New Concord, 82, passed away while in the care of Brookdale Senior Living Solutions on Monday, May 8, 2017. He was born on October 17, 1934 on Lexington Ridge in Summerfield, Ohio to William T. and Bertha (Stetka) Osborne. He graduated from Summerfield High School in 1952, and graduated from both Muskingum University and Black Hills State University in South Dakota, achieving his Master's Degree. He worked as an Educator for over 40 years working as a teacher as well as a basketball and baseball coach, capping his career as an assistant Superintendent for Ohio Valley Educational Service Center. He was very passionate about coaching, and spent 17 years of his career as a head Basketball coach. He enjoyed traveling, listening to country music and blue grass in Kentucky, going to the Black Hills, riding in trains, playing cards and Bingo, and spending time with his family. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, and was a proud member of the United States Army. He belonged to the Masons, the Mace Fraternity of Muskingum University, and the VFW. He is survived by his daughter, Beth Osborne, of the home, his sons, Stephen Osborne of Gahanna, Ohio, and Scott (Rebecca) Osborne of New Albany, and his grandson, Jack Scharfe. He also leaves to cherish his memory his brother, Jim Osborne, and his sister-in-law, Patricia Osborne, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 46 years, Elizabeth A. Osborne, who passed away on July 12, 2009, his parents, and his brother, Gene Osborne who passed away in 2012.Friends and family are welcome to attend Calling Hours on Friday, May 12, 2017 at the Farus Funeral Home of New Concord from 4 to 7PM. Services for Larry will take place on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at the funeral home at 10:30 AM with Rev. Karen Graham officiating. Burial will follow, and will be private, at the Eastern Cemetery of Summerfield, Ohio. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations are sent to the VFW of Caldwell, 514 West St, Caldwell, OH 43724. The family would like to thank the personnel of both Brookdale Hospice and Brookdale Senior Living Solutions for the kindness and care that Larry received in his time there.
