Laura Elizabeth Huerta passed away peacefully at home, among her loving family on September 29, 2017. She was 59 years old. She was born on July 13, 1958 in El Paso, Texas to Salvador and Luz Montes. She earned a B.A. degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Master's degree in Instructional Specialist Studies, from the University of Texas at El Paso. Mrs. Huerta was an educator with the Ysleta Independent School District for 19 years. She was an avid Los Angeles Dodgers fan, and loved attending games. Laura is preceded in death by her father Salvador R. Montes Jr., and brother Salvador Montes III. She is survived by her loving family; husband Reynaldo, daughters Ashley (Pedro), Michelle, Miah, and grandson Otto. She is also survived by her mother Luz G. Montes, brother Richard (Sylvia), sister Amanda, numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends. Her legacy will live on in the many lives she touched. The Huerta family would like to thank Dr. Raul Portillo and Jaime Villalva for their loving care and immeasurable amounts of support. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Texas Oncology and El Paso Cancer Treatment Center. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 5, 2017 from 5-9pm at Hillcrest Funeral Home with a vigil at 7pm. Funeral mass will be taking place Friday, October 6, 2017 at St. Raphael Catholic Church at 10am. Arrangements under the direction of Hillcrest Funeral Home-Carolina.
