Laura J. McCluenWYOMING – Laura J. McCluen, 89 of Wyoming, IL, passed away at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Grandview Alzheimer's Care Center in Peoria, Illinois.Laura was born on July 8, 1927 in rural Camp Grove, the daughter of William and Bertha Pyell Malamphy. She married Harry McCluen on May 5, 1948. He preceded her in death. Surviving are her nephews, James Irwin of Pekin, IL; Phillip Irwin of Washington, IL; and Randy Irwin of Wyoming, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.Laura worked several years in the McCluen Grocery where she did many things including buying eggs from local farmers. Her biggest love was caring for her roses and working in her yard. Laura also loved crocheting many blankets, some of which were donated to the rescue squad, nursing home and a few weddings and birthdays.Christmas was a special time for Laura. She would decorate her entire house with lights, homemade decorations and several trees. Outside decorating was big for her too. Santa sleigh, reindeer and Santa Claus attached to her chimney to top it off. Evergreens were decorated with the large bulbs all across the front of her home.Laura attended and was confirmed at St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Wyoming as a young adult. She was also a member of the Stark County Farm Bureau.The family wishes to thank Doctor Gilbert and all the staff at Grand View and the Harbor Light Hospice for the great care given Laura. May God Bless you all for your caring help.A graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 29, 2016, at Wyoming Cemetery, Wyoming, IL. Pastor Matthew Synott will officiate.
