Laura Jean (Clair) Brown, 70 passed away on November 12, 2016 in Alamogordo, New Mexico. She was born on March 24, 1946 in Roswell, New Mexico to Charles and Laura (Dobbs) Clair.Laura Jean had fought many times and kept at bay, for many years, death her biggest advisory. With all the health issues thrown at her, she fought valiantly until the very end. Even during illness, she helped so many people in need and in death was still able to give the gift of sight by donation. She graduated from Alamogordo High School in 1964 and married Doug Moates the same year. They had three wonderful children together and as an Air Force wife of 12 years moved many times. She made homes in Florida, Arkansas, Oklahoma and New Mexico for her family over the years. She eventually returned home to Alamogordo, and worked at White Sands Missile range for many years before retiring. Survivors include her son, Steven (Kim) Moates of Las Cruces, NM; two daughters, Keri (Bob) Chaffin of Tahlequah, OK, Tracie (Richard) Nelson of Converse, TX; three granddaughters, Emily Chaffin of Tahlequah, OK; Alyssa Nelson and great grandson Roman Felts of San Antonio, TX and Kasia Nelson of Converse, TX; brother, Charles "Mickey" (Diane) Clair of Elkhart, IN; and sister Tina Goodwin of Greenland, NH. She also left behind very loving aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and many extended family friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Laura Laverne Halferty and her father, Charles D. Clair. The family has invited everyone who loved her to a celebration of life at her home on Friday Dec 2, 2016 at 11 AM. A family graveside service will be conducted the following day at Ruidoso Hondo Valley Memorial Park Cemetery Saturday, Dec 3, 2016 at 10 AM.
