Michel, Laura L.Laura L. Michel, age 97, of Gladstone, MI, passed away Saturday morning, July 1, 2017 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 23, 1919 in Ithaca, NY, the daughter of Angelo and Myra (Ferretti) Michel. Laura grew up in Ithaca and graduated from Ithaca High School in 1937. At a young age, she began working at Rothschild's Department Store and continued to work for the company until her retirement in 1981. Family meant the world to her, especially her son and grandchildren. Laura was proud of always keeping a spotless home. One could often find her dusting the "top layer" off of a table. She was devoted to her faith and was a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Gladstone. Laura L. Michel is survived by son, George (Ruth) Botbyl of Gladstone; grandson, Eric Botbyl of Gladstone; and granddaughter, Stephanie (Paul) Hillebrand of Grand Rapids, MI.In addition to her parents, Laura was preceded in death by sisters, Florence Botbyl, and Mary Mangino; and brother-in-law, Thomas Mangino.A Memorial Mass will be held at 8:30 a.m., Monday, July 10, 2017 at All Saints Catholic Church in Gladstone, MI with Father James Ziminski officiating. Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery in Ithaca, NY.
