Laurel Kathleen Zimmerschied
COLE CAMP — Laurel Kathleen Zimmerschied, 73, of Cole Camp, died Monday, November 21, 2016, at her home. She was born on November 9, 1943, in Sedalia, Missouri, a daughter of Edgar and Doris (Vanderlinden) Lohnes.
She attended Whittier School in Sedalia, graduated 8th grade from Florence, and in 1961, graduated from Stover High School. She worked at Lamy's in Sedalia for four years.
On March 21, 1965, she was united in marriage to Ernest "Chris" Zimmerschied, who survives of the home. This union was blessed with the gift of three daughters, Christie, Melanie, and Lynnette. Before her children were born, she was a cook for Zimmerschied Custom Combining that traveled from Oklahoma to Canada.
In 1973, she went to work as Cole Camp School secretary. Then in 1979, she went to work at the Citizens Farmers Bank of Cole Camp, retiring in April of 2010. She was a member of Brauersville Lutheran Church, Cole Camp, where she belonged to the Ladies Aid. She loved sewing, making baby blankets for the hospital, CASA, and other charities, baking and cooking and spending time with her family and answering "granny" questions. She also enjoyed watching hummingbirds and butterflies, listening to wind chimes, and spotting rainbows.
She is survived by: her husband, Ernest "Chris" Zimmerschied of the home; three daughters, Christie Brandes and Delbert of Mora, Melanie Hare and J. D. of Cole Camp, and Lynnette Eckhoff and Kris of Cole Camp; a brother, Joe Lohnes and Helen of Greeley, Colorado; and eight grandchildren, Kelsie Brandes, C. J. Brandes, Taylor Eckhoff, Meagan Hare, Zane Brandes, Levi Hare, Trace Brandes, and Kole Eckhoff.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Doris Lohnes, and a brother, Gary Lohnes.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 28, 2016, at Brauersville Lutheran Church, Cole Camp, with Parish Ministry Associate Gary Wahlers officiating. Burial will be in Brauersville Lutheran Cemetery, Cole Camp.
The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 p.m. on Sunday at the Fox Funeral Home in Cole Camp.
The family suggests memorial contributions be given to Brauersville Lutheran Church, Cancer Perks, Crossroads Hospice, or Show Me Christian Youth Home in care of the Fox Funeral Home, Cole Camp.
Pallbearers will be C. J. Brandes, Zane Brandes, Trace Brandes, Levi Hare, Kole Eckhoff, Brian Zimmerschied, Calvin Lohnes, and David Lohnes.
