SEVEN VALLEYS Lavere G. "Bud" Markle, 79, died Friday, March 6, 2015, of natural causes at his home. He was the husband of the late Rosaleen E. (Rohrbaugh) Markle. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at St. Jacob's United Church of Christ, 100 E. George St., York New Salem, with the Rev. Rick Stuempfle officiating. A time of visitation and fellowship for family and friends will follow the service in the church social hall. Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Zion Shaffer's Church Cemetery, Seven Valleys. Mr. Markle was born on May 24, 1935, in North Codorus Township, a son of the late Joseph A. and Rosa I. (Folkenroth) Markle. He was employed as a Fork Lift Driver with P.A. & S Small and Flemming, Inc. in York for over 40 years, retiring in 1997. Bud attended Boyer's One-Room School in North Codorus Township, loved all the family gatherings and enjoyed being with his brothers and sisters, playing cards, eating out at many restaurants and playing volleyball. He was a member of the Nail Keggers Group that meets Wednesday mornings. He leaves three daughters, Kay V. Ferree and her husband Larry of Spring Grove, Penny J. Belcher and her husband Matt of York, and Kim L. Durst of Spring Grove; four grandchildren, Dillon, Carley, Nicole and Samantha; six brothers and sisters, Evelyn Thoman and his twin brother, Lavern "Bob" Markle, both of Glen Rock, Jean McLaughlin of Loganville, Ray Markle of York, Doris Goodling of Spring Grove, and Lynn Markle of Dover; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Miriam Thoman; three brothers, Carson Markle, Jay Markle and Barry Markle; and a son-in-law, John A. Durst.
