YORK Leafos Grant, 72, was called home to Heaven on Sunday, February 15, 2015. He was born on September 27, 1942, in Colleton County, S.C., to the late Henry Grant and Leaneal Grant Miley. He graduated from Ruffin High School in South Carolina. After graduation, he moved to York where he proudly worked for Caterpillar Tractor Company for 42 years. In addition, Leafos worked for the School District of the City of York as a teacher's assistant and hall monitor while still working at Caterpillar. Leafos was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, where he faithfully served as a trustee and eventually as Chairman of the Trustee Board for many years. He was a member of the Prince Hall Free and Accepted Masons in York. Affectionately known as "Pop Pop", Leafos was a family man who enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and the outdoors, where he engaged in gardening and sitting on his deck. Leafos was a proud and accomplished husband, father, "Pop Pop", uncle, cousin, and friend. Leafos leaves to cherish his memory his wife and best friend, Deborah L. Ritter-Grant; two sons, Kelby Ritter and wife, Tanishia of Silver Spring, Md., and Johnathan Ritter-Grant of York; four grandchildren, Kyla, Joseph, Kelby Jr., and Talia; three brothers, Jemon Grant of Florida, Clinton Grant of York, and Leonard Miley and wife, Clara; one sister, Sherry Ann (Miley) Grate of South Carolina; one aunt, Corine Williams of New York; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Leafos was preceded in death by three brothers, Willard Grant, William Grant, and Ralph Grant. A viewing is scheduled for Saturday, February 21, 2015, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 629 S. Pershing Ave., York 17401 and a Home Going service will immediately follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Mark K. Kearse officiating. Interment will be at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, York. Boulding Mortuary, Inc., York, is handling arrangements.
