Lee "Gene" WarrenSan AngeloLee "Gene" Warren went home to his Lord and Savior on Monday, July 10, 2017. He was born on May 11, 1933, in Putnam, Texas, to Irvin and Callie Warren. Gene. His family moved to Kermit, Texas in the early 1940s. He enlisted in the
United States Navy in June 1951 during the Korean War and was honorably discharged June 1955. While in the service in Hawaii, he became pin pals with Iris White. He spent his leaves from service at home and Sweetwater with his new found love. They were married March 20, 1954, in Kermit, Texas. They celebrated their 63rd anniversary March 20, 2017.Gene and his family moved to San Angelo in 1961 to be employed by Texas Parks and Wildlife, also living and working on the Fish Hatchery until retiring in 1989. His work was his passion and the life he loved. He had many life-long friends from his employment. He met and became friends with many ranchers in the area while stocking their tanks with fish. They were his rocks and he loved them immensely.Gene was a member of the First Baptist Church and was 32nd degree Mason, a member of Paint Rock Lodger #613 and the Suez Shrine and the members were his love.Gene loved his weekly domino games with his friends and we know they miss his out bursts of "why did you play that domino!!"Gene is survived by his wife, Iris; two daughters, Denise and husband Gary Nelson of Bastrop, Texas and Deann and husband Rob Zetzman of San Angelo; grandchildren Dell Zetzman, Jessica and Leon During, Amy Zetzman, Alicia McCraw and Beth Zetzman; and his great-grandchildren, the light of his life, Haylee Zetzman, Valerie Zetzman and Eleanor During, He is survived by his sister, Laura Russell; and numerous nieces and nephews, along with his constant companion, Patti.A special thank you to Shannon Home Health nurse Stephanie Perez and Meghan Halfmann, whom he learned to love so much on their visits and also Kindred Hospice for their tender care from all their specialists.Family request memorials to be made to Suez Shrine.Memorial service is at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017, at Harper Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dr. James Hassell officiating.Family and friends can sign the online register book at
