Lela was a woman of resilience and dedication, known for her unwavering work ethic. She spent many years as a dedicated cook before retiring, leaving behind a legacy of culinary mastery and warmth that touched the lives of all who were fortunate enough to taste her creations.
On December 24, 1958, Lela entered into holy matrimony with the love of her life, Johnny Lee Woods Jr. Together, they shared a bond of love and devotion that served as a beacon of inspiration to all who knew them.
Lela was preceded in death by her daughters, Rosie Campbell and Earnestine Hughes, but is survived by her beloved daughter Mae Doria Franklin. She leaves behind a rich legacy of love and wisdom in her 11 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 29 great-great-grandchildren, who will carry her memory forward with love and pride.
In addition to her immediate family, Lela is survived by her two brothers and sister, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church members, and friends, all of whom were touched by her kindness, grace, and unwavering faith.

A celebration of Lela's life will be held at Graves Chapel, where she found solace and strength throughout her life, with details to be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Graves Chapel Community Outreach Program, continuing Lela's legacy of service and compassion to those in need.
